This is....AWESOME!  Great job!

A couple of things, I also deleted the corresponding folders in the rms folder and backup folder, just to be safe.

Also, I was looking for a file named "_folder_db_ Delete It".  In fact there is none, you need to delete the file named "_folder_db_".

Just to make it easier on people, here are the folders that were on my phone, may be different on yours:
M000 Mobile E-mail
M001 Billboard??
M002 XM Radio
M003 Music ID (I think)
M004 InStyle
M005 MySpace
M006 Weather
M007 Movies
M008 Bejeweled
M009 Jewel Quest
M010 NY Nights
M011 Midnight Pool
M012 World Series of Poker

All the apps/games I installed were in the M020's.

Thanks again!

do u mean the file that under "Common" "DB" cause i look at it n it said some thing about SD card n phonebook so i dont want to delete something that is importent i just want to conferm sorry for the trble

Yup, I deleted the Mobile Email App by mistake too and now I can't figure out how to put it back.  The icon is still in there.  I tried just putting the M000 filder back in the ams folder in BitPim (the 000 folder in rms too), but that didn't work, it didn't let me drop the folders in.  I also tried creating new folders and naming them M000 (ams) and 000 (rms) and copying all the files into those directories.  I was able to put them in there that time, but after rebooting my phone, it wouldn't let Mobile Email start.  Looking for some help here please.

This may be a dumb question but does the phone have to hooked up to a computer to do this or just do this on the phone itself.  If on a computer should I buy a USB cable or I thought I heard a data cable would be better.  Where could I get either, thanks

Yay! I just did this. I LOVE getting rid of all the crap that companies put on phones (and computers). Thank you very much for this great how-to.

If anyone needs any back-up files, I have them all for the cu920. I had to switch between BitPim and EFS to get them, at times.

Okay, I spoke too soon.

On my cu920, I did as the instructions say, but the folders keep popping up and the icons keep popping up. So then I followed someone's advice on page 2 (I'm sorry I don't remember the name) to delete the "folder_db" file, which I did... so now all applications except for "Shop applications" don't show up. Do I need to re-install the ones I do want to keep (gmail, etc?)

Thanks. I'm going to play around with it more... if I find an answer to my own question, I'll post it.

EDIT: My apologies for 2 posts in a row. I won't do that again.
Anyway, I found out that my gmail (which I didn't delete) showed up under my games folder.

Ok so everything worked fine on my cu920 but it also deleted my other app icons that I use (mini opera, google maps). How do I get those icons back up on the app list? If I need to delete them and reinstall how can I do that without seeing or being able to select the app icons on the list to delete it? Now I can't use the applications that I would actually use.

Try checking under games. When I did this, all my apps moved to the games folder. I don't know why. I have a question myself: I followed the tutorial to the word but I can't get the XM radio and the Billboard/Buzz to disappear from the music folder. All the other demos that I removed are gone. Any ideas?
