Download Filetypes:Frequently used filetypes at LG-VU.com include zip, rar, txt, xml, and swf file extensions.
ZIP files need to be unpackaged/extracted using the
Windows Compressed (zipped) Folders tool;
RAR files need to be unpackaged/extracted using programs such as
WinZip, or
winRAR, or
ZipGenius (a free software that can handle all the formats you'll see here at LG-Vu.com).
****After the files are extracted, they can be dealt with as normal files & folders.
TXT (text) files can be edited in
Notepad or
Wordpad. README and certain phone system modification files may be in this format.
XML files can also be opened & edited using
Notepad or
Wordpad, but can also be edited with web-specific editing programs, such as
Microsoft Expression Web. XML files are almost always involved in hacking your Vu.
Lastly,
SWF, or ShockwaveFlash, files, can only be modified by those that truly know the workings of flash-based programs. These files can sometimes be opened using your web browser, and may usually provide a preview of what a flash-based mod will look like on your phone. A flash decompiler is needed to alter these files.
