You can find Theme Related Questions in here. If you see your Question has been asked; DO NOT ask it again. They will be answered in a timely manner and be updated with the appropriate link.

Q1: Do I need a cable to put these themes on my phone?
A1: Yes. You MUST have a USB Data Cable to install themes on your phone. The reason for this is that you must
get into the phones "File System" to add the files necessary for adding the themes.

Q2: Can I use Bluetooth instead of getting a Data Cable to add themes to my phone?
A2: It is not recommended to use Bluetooth to add themes. It could lose connection mid transfer, and cause
      damage to your phone.

Q3: The iPhone Theme has a built in Lockscreen. Is there a way to disable the Vu's Lockscreen, and use only the
      iPhone Theme's?
A3: Yes. You can disable the Vu's Lockscreen via the Phone Settings, and use the iPhone theme's. Keep in mind
that the iPhone Lockscreen is not a true lock, and some keys can still be pressed.

Q4: Can the Slide Theme have more than four Wallpapers?
A4: For now. No. The Slide theme is limited four Wallpapers. When that changes, it will be Posted.

Q5: Where can i find the Extended Interface Package?
A5: The Extended Interface Package can be found on the first post of this thread. Any Questions relating to it
should be asked in that thread.

Q6: How do I install themes on my Vu?
A6: Our good friend Merman has made a Video Tutorial on how to install themes to your Vu.

Q7: What Programs do I need to create or modify Themes?
A7: There are two programs you will need to create or modify Themes.
NOTE: We DO NOT advertise "Pirated Software" on this site. These are not free programs, but trials. It is
recommended that you purchase these programs, because trials will cause BUGS in your finished projects.

The first program you will need is Sothink SWF Decompiler to extract the Source Files (FLA's) from your .SWF files. Instructions on how to do this are HERE

The second program you will need is Adobe Flash CS4 to modify your Decompiled .SWF files, or create new ones.

Q8: Why do my themes only work with a 2gb micro SD card and not my other cards that also have the themes
      folder as well?
A8: If you have more than one microSD card you use for themes and you find out that it constantly loops or
reboots (does not go to main menu screen) when you change cards then this is for you:

To have and use multiple cards:
1) All the themes folder (and possibly any other wallpapers if you didn't install the EIP and themes "fresh") must be
    on all the cards
2) When you install the EIP package initially, do not put any of the cards in that has the Themes folder on it
3) Turn the phone on first. You will get the theme error loading. This is good, not bad.
4) Now insert any of the cards and they all should work when you interchange them (Note: If you have already
done this and they are not working, then try this on one of the non-working cards...delete 4 files: one is on the
phone in LGAPP/Media/DB called MTPDBCRC.bin. The other three is on the card: MTP folder, and the other two
bin files. These files are always created when the phone recognizes it for the first time so you are not losing
    anything.

Q9: How do I set my Default (loaded first) theme in the Theme Manager?
A9: You can set any Theme as your Default by editing your first line of code in the Themelist.txt to be loaded
first. The instructions for this are also included with the EIP.

Q10: How do I change the wallpapers in my themes?
A10: Each theme has it's own Folder for holding the wallpapers. Some include an .xml file as well. It really depends
on which theme you are working with.

First We''l start with the iPhone theme.
Just locate the "wall" Folder, and replace the .swf files with the ones of your choice.
NOTE: Make sure you rename the new wallpapers are named the same as the ones you're replacing.

Now for the Walkman Theme.
Just go here for instructions.

Last We'll do the Slide Theme.
Locate the "IMG" folder in your Slide folder. Then replace the images with your new ones.
NOTE:Be sure you rename your new wallpapers to the same as the ones you're replacing

Q11: Can I set a dialpad to match a theme?
A11: As of this time. No. Though you can set a Defualt Dialpad to work with you Default Theme.

u can add up to four technically i guess (overshadowing the default vu themes)...if u want more than that then yea u will need it unless u make ur own little theme manager...lol...u seem to know what ur talkin about though...so if u do happen to make any themes and such we would really be grateful if u shared them with us...since as of now we only have a few theme creators you'll be greatly admired...lol
HOPE THIS HELPS Wink

This is a theme related question, although it may be outside the scope of this thread.

I tried to watch the video on how to install themes, but the audio is incredibly low, except the LOUD clicking noises, and it doesn't seem to really flow that well. all in all. It was not very informative. moreover is suggests using the EIP which again, I don't care for. I would like a theme manager, alternatively integrated directly into each theme, as a tab or a button, similar to the popular "iphone" theme's background changer is setup.

i would like to know, what is actually necessary to create a theme, What files are actually needed. which swf files, how they are loaded and of more importance. What links the buttons in the swf to the functionality of navigating the phone's menus.

I can figure this out on my own, but i have about 9 projects im working on right now, and the free time to get dirty with a new project is fleeting at best, and It would be so much more motivating if I had a little up front information in order to get started.

I ran into this site on accident after buying a vu.  I had no intention of modding and now it's one of my favorite things to do.  Some quick questions...

to remove a theme:  Do i just delete the theme folder, then edit out it's line in the theme.txt ?  For instance...butterly and ribbons, I will never use these.  Will I mess up anything if I remove them?

also,
have you noticed any slow down in the vu's performance as themes begin to pile up?

thanks!

madwreck

ps does cs3 work for creating themes too or just cs4

well, the ribbons and the other one are in the default folder so youll just need to delete the .swf file and then edit the themes list and everything will be fine.

the only thing that really slows the phone down is the animated wallpapers...

as for modding the themes and what not, those are just versions of the same program so either will work fine... cs4 is just newer...

i've been having a problem with icons in certain themes.

for example, when i use S2U and go to one of the sub-menus and back out, for some reason i get the icons from the black and silver themes showing up OVER the S2U icons.

to try to fix the problem i deleted both the black and silver themes, but the same thing keeps occurring. i'm guessing that when i first modded the phone that i missed something, but i really have no idea what.

can someone help me?

Hi there.

First. I just want to say thank you to verybody who works really hard so we could have some great thems. Thank you...

Here's my question: How many themes can the lg VU can support.?? I have already install the walkman theme and i was wandering if i can add some more theme to my phone. I installed it in the phone and not in the memory card.

And my other question is: if I want to get rid of thewalkman theme is there a way (tutorial) I can erase it??

thank you very much
