if im not mistaken a member has allready tried to acces the phone files using all of the traditional methods to no avail and as far as hacks we dont know yet seeing as no one has gained acces to its files but im sure if anyone could get acces to their phone files and copy thim all to the computer and upload it for us to look at we would at least get an idea of where we would start

http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=3dhh8tuy4bp2x

link to the vu plus's filesystem.....you have to use lgmpd then efs to get to it (like the dec version of the cu920)

Wow cool, someone else has the GR700 now!  I hope we have some smart hackers on this forum to enhance this device!  I am by no means an expert programmer; all I have done so far is add jar files (games & programs) to this phone so far, as well as set up the phony internet settings.  I would like the pros work on these items, whenever they get the time:

1) Lagging between clicking programs, such as: loading songs, games, or applications.  [Update: After charging the phone when powered off, the phone improved in speed 75% faster (without the loading screen appearing) when I powered it back on.  The same contents of the music and games folder opened much quicker than previously, although the actual program opens slightly slower.]

2) The touch-screen quit responding once already; power cycling fixed the issue, but would like it to not have that issue anymore.

3) [ I set a fake internet setting to avoid data charges as well as set each game/application to never connect. With that in mind, I don't want the programs that connect to the internet listed on the menus. ] I would like these programs removed from the screen: Shortcut > My Account; Menu > Phone icon > YPMobile / AT&T GPS / Mobile Email; & Menu > Entertainment > tv / Mobile Video / Mobile Web / App Center / AT&T Music. I know that pressing the items won't charge data fees, but accidentally hitting them is a pain; I would like to remove them or even reassign where the icon points.

4) Ability to add/delete widgets to the widget bar.

5) Ability to create personal themes.

Sounds like a deal, providing that what you do is safe and doesn't "Brick" the phone.

I'm new to this modding thing; what all can be done just by having the internal files?  I presume altering those files is how people mod the device.  I appreciate your work in finding the files, but just curious why not test the mods first -- or does just testing and removing the mods void the warranty?

I must be sick in the head. I'm d/l these files, I simply must see what this new vu has.  I wonder if can apply to the old one.  Why hasn't somebody smarter than me completely cracked this phone open? I guess it means nobody is smarter than me. Geeze, I win. Why do I always win? What am I talking about? Should I return the HTC ARIA for a Vuplus???  I dunno, that just sounds like a bad idea. Maybe I need to go to church and think about it.

** upon further review, this phone looks almost as easy to mod as the Vu.  It looks like the same dang thing only with a lil bit more crap of course.

ok i made this in a hurry and it is just a test to see if this method will work to load external swfs.... IF U HAVE SOME HUGE KUHONAS PLEASE TRY IT...
what ur going to have to do is replace the TopMenu_black.swf file with the one i uploaded located in lgapp/media/menu/black and also add the inav file to lgapp/media/menu/black location now ur going to have to be using the black theme and after u reboot open up the menu and u should see a blank white button if all goes right it should load up the inav theme (coded for the vu only) if that works ill begin work on a actual theme manager and begin writining a list of vu pluss button codes... good luck use this at ur own risk and please report back here with the results

p.s. u will probaly have to do a restart f it loads the inav wright to get back to the original vu plus theme

very interesting.... It was only a matter of time before someone started modding it. Hope all goes well, and the Vu Plus can be as customizable as the original Vu. I'll be checking back for progress to see how far you guys get. Good luck!

Here try this.

Try renaming the T1_menu.swf that I attached to TopMenu_black.swf and then replace the old one with the new one.

The T1_menu.swf has the theme manager button on the upper right hand corner so I was thinking if we use this wouldn't the theme manager button also show up on the upper right hand corner of the VuPlus. I think you would also need to add a theme folder in the same directory as the TopMenu_black.swf then a Themes folder in the theme folder. Then you have to add some themes in the Themes folder and a ThemeList.txt

I am not completely sure this will work but it wouldn't hurt to try. (I think)

If it doesn't work I am trying to make a completely new thememanager for the VuPLus

I thought theme_bg1 is what had the battery icon, and T1_menu was just the changed icons.
